Vehicle repairs - Changing out some tired old suspension components ahead of the MOT!
The issue reported with this little old Suzuki was a variety of clunks and bangs, believed to be coming from the suspension.
The prognosis was largely correct, but this came as a first for me; upon separating the ball joint from the knuckle it became apparent that the part was so badly rusted that it literally broke in two - had this failure occurred while the car was in motion it would have certainly resulted in a nasty accident, as the wheel would have become detached from the car.
Excessive play was also found in the inner and out tie-rods, and so both were also changed at the same time on both sides of the vehicle - the owner reported the vehicle drove better after this work than it had done in years.
If you hear something abnormal, have it looked at before it's too late!
